Jolly Roger Productions - Toronto Ontario 1998

Our design challenge for this project was to create an unusual work environment where itinerant consultants could meet and work either individually or collectively, as comfortably and flexibly as possible.

We built a simple row of large identical project rooms in the centre of the space. This left a large area around the perimeter providing casual meeting opportunities and breakout areas, which also allowed everyone access to light and view.

Each room has a sliding door on each side that brings in light and allows the project teams to expand into the perimeter area. Each room contains a large elliptical conference table that is balanced on steel legs and is pierced and braced by the existing column. Three wood and metal workstations lean against two of the surrounding walls. Laptop drawers extend from the black rubber covered workstations.

The generous, inviting and stimulating space is extremely conducive to creative work.
